Nyhavn, Copenhagen: The Beauty of New Haven

Nyhavn, Copenhagen is the old harbor in Denmark. Nyhavn is come from New Haven or Nye Haven or New Harbor that was originally a busy commercial port where ships from all over the world would dock. The area teemed with sailors, ladies of pleasure, pubs and alehouses. 'Den Nye Havn' eventually changed its name to 'Nyhavn' ('Newhaven'), and gradually the beautiful old slanted houses were renovated and classy restaurants started popping up. Then, nowadays, Nyhavn becomes one of best destination to travel or spend vacation. Moreover, it can be one of harbor cruise and canal cruise boats in which will give much gorgeous vacation experiences. Furthermore, it can be the beginning to find more gorgeous destination in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Based on a reviews that I read in the virtualtourist.com, it was stated that: 

Nyhavn (New Harbour) was established in 1673 by King Christian V as a gateway to the sea from the old inner city. Nyhavn once had a bad reputation and it was a tough neighbourhood with fights, prostitutes and plenty of liquor flowing. Today it is a very popular place among locals and tourist – and it is still possible to have your share of drinks in some of the many restaurants, pubs and cafés which are located along the canal. However, Nyhavn is not just restaurants, pubs and cafés. Take a stroll and look at the sailing ships anchored in the canal and the surrounding beautiful old houses. On the front of no. 67 there is a small plaque with the name of Hans Christian Andersen. The famous Danish fairy-tale writer Hans Christian Andersen loved Nyhavn, and he lived there for more than 25 years (from 1834 to 1838 he lived in no. 20, from 1845 to 1864 in no. 67 (on the sunny side) and later in no. 18 from 1871 to his death in 1875). 

So, it can be blamed to our parliament members (DPR) who did kunker (kunjungan kerja) to Denmark and spent several of their times to enjoy the exoticism of Nyhavn  as the following figures :(
